Unlike many of the current pop-stars who are destined to fade into the sunset (remember Vanilla Ice and Tiffany?), the popularity of The Beatles has lasted a good decade and thereafter. Although John Lennon claimed that they "were just a band that made it very very big", they were more than that. Not only did they spark America's interest in the British music scene, but they also wrote songs that meant something. They were not just four moptops... they were the "It Band" of the 1960s.
