In the Year 2000...

Ahhh... memories of the millennium. It was only a few years ago, yet oddly I can't remember what happened that year. Oh... yeah, school, work, school and work. I spent 2000 changing my major from Elementary Education to English. I also started tutoring that year, I was still busy at Readers World and I started my sideline house-sitting job. Work. Work. Work.

2000 was the year of the car. In August I bought my very first car!!!! It only took me all my albeit brief life at that point to pay for it.  'Twas a '92 Chevy Cavalier.  During our time together we got into three accidents, drove through two white outs in the dark, forged our way through two feet of snow and journeyed to Gary, Ind.  Unfortunately I had to get ride of the Silver Hornet in early 2005. Oddly enough, I'm almost certain I was following in Dec. 2005 en route to another Gary trip.

It's the Bard!  This new bust of Shakespeare is the central attraction of Purdue North Central's Shakespearean Garden and not only is William pretty to look at, but he's also an "all-weather Bard."  Yes, Mr. Shakespeare is strong and durable enough to stand up to the finest of Indiana storms and blizzards! Well, okay, he was not strong enough to handle some sort of vandalism that caused his head to crack wide open... or so I've heard. The incident occurred after I graduated.

Aweee....above is PNC's  brand new supply of  Canadian Geese! I spent a ridiculous amount of time that Spring in hanging out in the Shakespearean Garden. The picture on the right of  pond was actually published on the cover of the 2002 edition of Portals, PNC's literary magazine.

In July 2000, I met 'Net buddy and fellow Get Smart fan Ishaan "The Wanderer" Gokhale.  The Wanderer's past time is taking trips across these United States and across the globe. He has a whole site all about his excursions here.

When the Fall 2000 semester started, I found myself wondering if the statue at left (that thing the arrow is pointing at) was really an. . . arse.  Again, this sculpture is yet another installment of Purdue North Central's sculpture exhibit.  It is called "Sentinel,"  but I can think of a few better names. The statue on the right, named "Oh" is a metal tree. I don't know if these guys are still around the campus or not.

Ah the joys of Halloween!  At left are my good friends The Invisible Man and Mae West.  I, in the second picture, am attempting to portray a Kaos assassin.  It should be noted that this Halloween hootenanny was at Gratty's Bar.  The Invisible Man, by the way, won fifty bucks that night for his karaoke talents.
